Upherds is a smaller site than New Barns, with about 45 tenants. The site is triangular with mostly small plots which are subdivisions of the original 10 pole plot layout. The ground slopes gently from the south-western boundary with the houses in West Fen Road down to Upherds Lane. Soil has a clay content as this is on the original Isle of Ely. Mains water is available on site, parking on adjacent street.
The major site paths were relaid during the 2016/17 winter when the water pipes were installed, providing wide and firm access to most parts of the site.
